Polish consumers face pricing discrepancies and budget constraints
Recent studies highlight significant financial challenges and pricing issues facing Polish consumers. According to research by UCE Research for Shopfully Poland, 81% of Polish consumers noticed discrepancies between promotional shelf prices and the final amount on their receipts over the last 12 months. Approximately one-quarter of respondents reported experiencing these inconsistencies frequently.
Experts note that promotional campaigns are becoming increasingly complex, often requiring loyalty cards, mobile apps, or meeting specific quantity thresholds, which can lead to consumer frustration and loss of trust in retail chains.
Separately, a survey conducted by IBRiS for Santander Consumer Bank reveals the state of household budgets in Poland. About 35% of respondents reported having to cancel planned purchases due to financial constraints once every few months. When faced with an unexpected expense equal to a monthly salary, 33% would rely entirely on savings, while 34% would use a mix of savings and current funds.
The primary barriers to saving money among Poles include high living costs (31%), unexpected expenses (28%), and low income (25%). The most common method for saving remains savings accounts, used by 54% of respondents.
