Zbigniew Ziobro remains in the US following court ruling on passport
The Provincial Administrative Court in Warsaw has overturned the decision by the Mazovian Voivode to invalidate the passport of former Justice Minister Zbigniew Ziobro. The court ruled that significant procedural violations occurred, noting that authorities sent notifications to an address where Ziobro was known not to reside, thereby depriving him and his legal representatives of the right to participate in the proceedings.
Ziobro, who is currently in the United States, characterized the original decision as "political revenge" and compared the government's actions to methods used by the communist-era security services. He stated that returning to Poland immediately would only benefit Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
The legal dispute stems from investigations into irregularities within the Justice Fund, with prosecutors considering 26 charges against the former minister. While the court found procedural errors, the ruling is not yet final and may be appealed to the Supreme Administrative Court. Ziobro also addressed his health, noting that financial constraints in the US prevent him from undergoing necessary medical diagnostics.
