Polish culinary experts win regional and international awards

Polish culinary professionals have secured notable victories in regional and international competitions. Wiesław Niepokój, owner of the Jagodzianka confectionery in Dukli, was named the Sweetness Master of the Year for the Podkarpackie Voivodeship in the Mistrzowie Smaku 2026 plebiscite. Niepokój, who continues a family tradition dating back to 1987, earned 945 votes for his traditional recipes, which utilize natural ingredients without preservatives.

In international news, Wojciech Madyś from Częstochowa won the Pizza World Cup 2026 held in Pomezia, near Rome. Madyś impressed an international jury with an original version of a Margherita pizza. He noted the rigorous preparation required for the competition, which includes perfecting dough recipes and managing the logistics of transporting specific ingredients from Poland to Italy.
