Polish cultural and religious events honor legacies of Stefans
Various cultural and religious commemorations are taking place in Poland honoring figures named Stefan.
In Ciekoty, the ‘Stefan’s Name Day’ event celebrated the legacy of writer Stefan Żeromski. The program included literary readings of his correspondence with his wife, Oktawia, by prominent journalists and actors, musical interpretations of his early poetry, and an art exhibition by Bronisława Ryś at the ‘Szklany Dom’ Education and Culture Center.
Meanwhile, Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University (UKSW) in Warsaw marked the fifth anniversary of the beatification of its patron, Blessed Stefan Wyszyński. A Holy Mass was led by Rector Ryszard Czekalski at the university chapel, which was dedicated to the Primate of the Millennium in 2021. The ceremony included reflections on Wyszyński’s spiritual legacy and his devotion to Mary.
