Polish dairy farms report record yields and shift away from milking

A family farm in Sumowo, Kuyavian‑Pomeranian Voivodeship, recorded an unusual triplet birth from a Montbéliarde‑cross cow and highlighted a milk production increase to almost 9,000 kg per cow after modernising feed and housing systems. The farm maintains 30 milking cows and 30 heifers, with calves kept for re‑raising.

In contrast, a farmer from Kamianki Nadbużna in Masovian Voivodeship sold his entire herd of 30 milking cows and shifted to a service business cleaning and disinfecting barns. He cited family pressures, low milk prices (around 1.5 zł per litre) and the limited profitability of organic dairy production as reasons for abandoning milk production, although he intends to return to dairy farming in the future.
