Polish defence group PGZ forms joint venture with France's Eurenco for 155 mm artillery propellant production

During the Eurosatory 2026 defence fair in Paris, the Polish Defence Group (PGZ) signed a strategic agreement with French defence company Eurenco to establish a joint‑venture company that will manufacture modern 155 mm propellant charges in Poland. The venture aims to give Poland sovereign capacity for artillery ammunition, with a planned output of at least 600 000 charges per year and support from a 2.4 billion‑złoty state investment programme. PGZ President Adam Leszczyński said the project "strengthens our production sovereignty and strategic security for Poland and NATO’s eastern flank".

At the same event, MESKO S.A., a key Polish ammunition manufacturer, signed a memorandum of cooperation with Thales Belgium. The deal will transfer key technologies for 70 mm laser‑guided rockets to Polish facilities, allowing local assembly of engines and critical components. MESKO President Renata Gruszczyńska noted that the partnership "will change Poland’s position on the European defence map" and enhance domestic capabilities against drone threats.

The agreements were highlighted as part of Poland’s broader push for defence self‑reliance, showcased at its first national pavilion at Eurosatory, attended by senior officials from the Ministry of State Assets and the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
