Dawid Kacprzyk at Warsaw hospitals faces staffing and competence controversy

Dawid Kacprzyk, a 28‑year‑old physician, became the central figure in a dispute over emergency‑department staffing at Warsaw’s Hospital Bródnowski and Hospital South (Szpital Południowy). After a sudden shortage of doctors in early February 2026, the Bródnowski SOR coordinator reported that physicians refused to continue caring for patients, prompting the hospital to recruit Kacprzyk with a “file of 40 CVs” and a network‑based “co‑operative work” model. He logged 732 hours over 125 days – roughly 16–17 hours per day – while simultaneously holding positions at several other hospitals.

Colleagues described him as wanting “to be the king of SOR.” Accusations surfaced that he worked in the red‑zone without sufficient experience, leading to errors that other doctors had to correct and, in some cases, patient harm. A group of 16 SOR doctors later signed a letter defending him and calling his dismissal a “provocation.” Kacprzyk also resigned from the Warsaw Regional Medical Council after the controversy, and prosecutors have been notified of alleged misconduct.
