Polish doctors and veterinarians prized in the Netherlands amid home health‑system reforms

Polish physicians, dentists and veterinarians have become highly sought after in the Netherlands, where salaries can reach up to 50,000 zł per month and working conditions are described as comfortable and well‑resourced. Dutch hospitals and clinics in cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht are actively recruiting, and some Polish‑run clinics have opened to serve the sizable Polish community. Language barriers and the need for Dutch qualifications are noted as the main challenges for emigrants.

In Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced a series of reforms aimed at eliminating abuses in the public health system. The government intends to close “VIP lounge” queues, stop the practice of “doctor millionaires” who perform costly, non‑essential procedures, and introduce an e‑registration system to make queues transparent. Tusk called for equal access to care for all patients and pledged tighter oversight of medical salaries and employment practices.
