Polish e-commerce shifts as Sinsay launches marketplace

A report by Fulfilio titled ‘Marketplace or Own Store?’ reveals shifting dynamics in the Polish e-commerce sector. While 62% of surveyed companies report stable sales on marketplaces, 21% have seen a decrease in the share of marketplace sales over the last 12 months. Conversely, 28% of companies operating their own online stores report an increase in their share of total online sales, as businesses seek greater control over margins, customer data, and relationships.

In response to these trends, LPP Group’s brand Sinsay is launching its own marketplace, opening its platform to external partners. The brand intends to expand its assortment through a closed model, selecting specific partners to maintain quality. Key categories for initial development include cosmetics, toys, footwear, home goods, and accessories. Sinsay aims to exceed 100,000 products by 2027, with some orders fulfilled via LPP Logistics.

The beauty segment appears to be an exception to the broader market trend. While overall e-commerce shows a slight decline in marketplace reliance, the beauty and cosmetics category shows growth, with 27% of firms reporting an increased share of marketplace sales and only 9% reporting a decrease.
