Polish Education Minister Barbara Nowacka criticised over women‑support T‑shirt

Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki posted a photo of himself wearing a black polo shirt printed with the slogan “Wspieramy kobiety” (We support women). The image, intended as a show of solidarity with women’s demands, sparked swift backlash from within the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) camp. Education Minister Barbara Nowacka responded on X, accusing Morawiecki of hypocrisy and recalling police repression of women’s protests during his tenure, calling the gesture a “political stunt”.

Separately, MP Marcin Józefaciuk criticised Nowacka’s performance as minister, saying she is not a substantive minister and that her appointments of deputy ministers lack educational expertise. Józefaciuk argued that the staffing choices hinder coherent education policy and demanded a reshuffle and a halt to rapid reforms.

Both comments highlight growing tension within the coalition over women’s rights and the management of the Ministry of Education.
