Armenia eyes EU membership as Polish political polls show shifting dynamics

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Paszynian announced that Armenia may soon submit an official application for membership in the European Union. This move signals Yerevan’s intent to strengthen ties with the West and distance itself from Moscow, following perceived lack of support from Russia during the 2023 conflict with Azerbaijan. While Russia views Armenia as part of its sphere of influence and has applied economic pressure, Paszynian stated a referendum on EU membership would only be meaningful once the feasibility of accession can be assessed.

In Poland, recent political polling shows a fragmented landscape. In hypothetical scenarios involving two large electoral blocs, a centrist-left coalition (including Koalicja Obywatelska and New Left) leads with approximately 55% support, compared to 43% for a right-wing bloc (including PiS and Konfederacja). However, political experts suggest such broad coalitions are unlikely due to identity concerns for smaller parties and internal disagreements.

Separate polling regarding the upcoming extraordinary mayoral elections in Kraków shows Łukasz Gibała as the frontrunner with 25.2% support, followed by Monika Piątkowska at 15.3%. A significant portion of the electorate, roughly 25.2%, remains undecided, leaving the final outcome uncertain.
