Polish Embassy Warns Tourists of Theft Surge in Italy

The Polish Embassy in Italy has issued a warning as the summer season sees a rise in thefts targeting Polish visitors. Reports indicate an increase in pocket‑theft, vehicle break‑ins and robberies of campers and caravans.

The embassy advises travelers to keep bags, backpacks, cameras and laptops out of sight, store documents and cash separately, pay by card and avoid carrying large amounts of cash. Campers should park only in designated campsites or marked areas and steer clear of unsecured parking lots. All valuables should be taken with you even for short stops.

In case of theft, the consular office urges victims to photograph any damage, compile a list of stolen items and report the incident immediately to police or the Carabinieri. Consular assistance can help with lost passports but cannot replace driver’s licences or vehicle registration documents, so protecting those papers is essential.
