Polish energy firms implement grid stability and decarbonization measures

Energy companies in Poland are implementing various strategies to support the energy transition and grid stability. Energa Elektrownie Ostrołęka has contracted 394.958 MW of capacity market obligations for its boilers 1 and 2 at the Ostrołęka B plant, which is expected to generate at least 128.57 million PLN in 2027.

Additionally, the company Enspirion has contracted 351.397 MW under Demand Side Response (DSR) services, potentially yielding at least 114.39 million PLN in 2027. These measures aim to stabilize the national power system by allowing for controlled reductions in consumption during energy shortages.

In the district heating sector, MPEC Rypin has launched a new 2 MW electric resistance boiler, implemented by Dalkia Polska Solutions. This new source integrates with existing gas cogeneration systems to increase operational flexibility. The investment allows the plant to utilize cheaper electricity during periods of high renewable energy production, potentially reducing coal consumption by over 740 tons and CO2 emissions by more than 1,500 tons annually.
