Polish Episcopate holds plenary meeting in Zakopane

The Polish Episcopate Conference began its 406th plenary meeting in Zakopane, running from October 22 to 24. Held at the ‘Księżówka’ Formation and Training Center, the gathering includes discussions on several critical issues, including the role of the family in a secularizing society and the financing of Catholic media outlets.

A primary focus of the meeting is the progress regarding a commission of independent experts tasked with investigating cases of sexual abuse of minors within the Catholic Church in Poland. The bishops are expected to review legal documents and discuss feedback from the government to finalize the commission's statute.

Additionally, the hierarchy will address the financial stability of Catholic media, such as the Catholic Information Agency and the Opoka portal, following the establishment of a media fund in June. The agenda also includes topics regarding religious education in schools and the formation of deacons.
