Polish families face higher rates of financial disputes

A February 2026 study by BIG InfoMonitor reveals that 23% of families with children experience frequent or very frequent financial disputes, compared to only 8% of households without children.

The primary driver of these conflicts is the high cost of living, cited by 31% of all respondents. Among families with children, additional stressors include a lack of savings (17%) and household extravagance (16%).

Other contributing factors to domestic tension include income inequality between partners (11% in families with children), hidden spending (9%), and partner compulsive shopping (9%). The research suggests that even when general price baskets fluctuate, specific price increases for essential goods like food, housing, and transport place significant pressure on family stability and mutual trust.
