Polish family faces 650 euro taxi cost after Sicily flight disruptions

A Polish family traveling through Sicily faced significant logistical challenges and unexpected costs due to volcanic activity from Mount Etna. The family, who booked a tour through TUI, experienced flight disruptions at Catania airport caused by volcanic ash clouds.

After being informed that their return flight would proceed as planned, the family was later notified that they had to depart from Palermo, located approximately 240 km away from Catania. According to the traveler, TUI was unable to provide alternative transport to the new departure point. Consequently, the family had to pay 650 euros for a taxi to reach Palermo to ensure they could catch their Ryanair flight back to Poland. A subsequent claim for reimbursement filed with TUI was rejected.
