Polish farm in Warmia‑Mazury hires soldiers for high‑pay harvest jobs

A farm covering more than 7,000 hectares in Poland's Warmia‑Mazury region operates nine New Holland combine harvesters. The owner, identified as Pan Adam, said: “We have a farm in Warmian‑Masurian, over seven thousand hectares. We harvest with nine combine harvesters.”

The harvest season lasts from three weeks up to one and a half months, extending into autumn and including crops such as wheat, barley, rapeseed, soy and beans. Workers—both full‑time staff and seasonal hires, including soldiers on leave—operate the machines from early morning until late at night, sometimes working past midnight when weather threatens.

Wages are calculated at 30 PLN per hectare plus 30 PLN per hour, with possible bonuses. The farm claims that a diligent operator can earn between 30,000 and 40,000 PLN in a single season. The owner emphasized the need for disciplined, sober operators, stating that most drivers are aged 25‑40 and must not drink or smoke.
