Polish farmer offers 10,000 PLN reward after metal objects damage forage harvester

A farmer in the Świecie district of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship has offered a 10,000 PLN reward to identify the person responsible for placing metal objects in cornfields. The incident, referred to by local farmers as the ‘golden cob,’ caused significant damage to a Claas Jaguar 900 forage harvester during the middle of the harvest season.

The owner, Mariusz, reported that several colorful metal fragments were found within the machine's cutting system. He noted that these specific metal pieces were not detected by his metal detector. While the exact scale of the damage is still being assessed by an expert, preliminary estimates suggest repair costs could reach between 30,000 and 40,000 PLN.

The case has been reported to the police. This is not the first time the owner has faced such issues; he previously abandoned using a different machine years ago due to similar metal-related damage before returning to service with the current equipment.
