Polish farmers report frost damage to rapeseed and strawberry sellers face vandalism

Wojciech Wygryz, a farmer in the Gniezno area of Greater Poland, says a series of frosts hit his rapeseed crop during flowering. He filed an insurance claim, but the adjuster estimated losses at only 6%, while compensation is paid from 8% loss onward. Wygryz argues the assessment does not reflect the field conditions, adding that low rain and weed pressure this season will likely reduce overall yields.

A married couple operating seasonal strawberry stalls in Luboń, Poznań and nearby villages report repeated acts of vandalism. Over the past three years five stalls have been damaged, and this year's attacks involved spraying butyric acid, causing material loss estimated at about 40,000 zł. The owners suspect a competitor, have lodged police reports, and are offering a 10,000 zł reward for information while also preparing a civil claim for damages.
