Polish farmers urged to boost safety in harvest operations

During the peak harvest period in Poland, authorities and agricultural organisations stress that accidents involving tractors, combines and other farm machinery rise sharply. Workers are urged to inspect equipment for technical soundness, avoid operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, ensure proper load securing, and keep visibility high by using functional lights and LED systems. The law requires agricultural vehicles to carry valid liability insurance and to stay as far right as possible on public roads.

Night harvesting adds further risks: reduced visibility, higher chances of equipment failure and fire. Operators should clean lamp lenses, verify fluid levels, seal hydraulic and cooling systems, and equip older machines with additional lighting. Extra caution is also advised around children assisting with the harvest to prevent injuries.
