Joanna Jabłczyńska at center of Polish film sequel controversy

A significant controversy has erupted in the Polish entertainment industry regarding the sequel to the cult romantic comedy “Nigdy w życiu!”. The dispute centers on actress Joanna Jabłczyńska, who played the teenage character Tosi in the 2004 original, but will not return for the new production, “Właśnie, że tak!”.

Jabłczyńska expressed deep disappointment, stating she felt misled by the production after advanced discussions and receiving a script. The situation escalated when author Katarzyna Grochola considered legal action and her daughter, Dorota Szelągowska, issued a public statement criticizing the actress. This sparked widespread backlash from fans and industry professionals.

Screenwriter Ilona Łepkowska criticized the production's crisis management, suggesting that simple apologies could have prevented the scandal. Additionally, actress Joanna Brodzik, who played Ula in the original, confirmed she will not participate in the sequel, citing a preference for new projects over returning to past roles.
