Polish film “Odzyskany” launches pre‑premiere screenings across the country
The full‑length drama “Odzyskany”, written and directed by Marcin Kwaśny, opened its pre‑premiere run on 2 August in cinemas throughout Poland as part of the “Lato z Rafaelem” series. The film follows Janek (Filip Gurłacz), a teenager confronting his father’s alcoholism, a sick mother and the desperate choices it forces him to make.
A press conference for the film’s creators was held on 11 August at the Foksal Press Centre. The picture is produced by Fundacja Między Słowami, distributed by Rafael Film and features music by Robert Janson. It has drawn praise from critics, addiction therapists and clergy, with Bishop Tadeusz Bronakowski describing it as a “moving work that goes beyond cinema, offering a kind of spiritual retreat.” The film’s themes of forgiveness, love and personal transformation have been highlighted as especially resonant during August, a month of prayer for people struggling with addiction in Poland.
