Polish film screenings set for early August in Warsaw and Wrocław

Selected cinemas will host preview screenings of the drama "Odzyskany" on 2 August as part of the "Lato z Rafaelem" programme. The full theatrical release is scheduled for 14 August 2025, coinciding with the liturgical commemoration of St. Maximilian Kolbe, Poland’s patron of the temperance movement. The film, directed by actor‑turned‑director Marcin Kwaśny, depicts a family struggling with alcohol addiction and the quest for reconciliation.

On 3 August, Wrocław’s Market Square will hold a free outdoor showing of Andrzej Wajda’s 1999 adaptation of Adam Mickiewicz’s epic "Pan Tadeusz". Organized by the International Film Festival TAURON New Horizons, the event marks the Ossolineum Year, the 10th anniversary of the Museum of "Pan Tadeusz", and the Year of Andrzej Wajda. The first 100 attendees will receive complimentary tickets to the museum’s exhibition of the original manuscript.

Both events aim to promote Polish cultural heritage and encourage public engagement with cinema during the summer months.
