ZUS lifts doctors' pay, new salary multipliers introduced

Poland's Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) has introduced new salary multipliers for its medical staff, effective 16 July 2026. The regulation links wages to the average monthly gross salary in the economy, ensuring pay adjusts with market trends. Doctors serving as medical examiners will receive between 14 200 zł and 20 000 zł gross per month, with chief doctors earning up to 26 700 zł. Nurses and nurse‑midwives will earn 10 700 zł–14 200 zł, and physiotherapists 11 600 zł–15 600 zł. The reform aims to improve the attractiveness of ZUS employment, address chronic staffing shortages (the institute employs about 649 doctors, of whom many are over 60), and prepare for the final phase of the medical‑examination overhaul scheduled for January 2027. ZUS officials state the changes will help recruit and retain specialists and accelerate the processing of disability and pension claims.
