Polish firms boost waste‑to‑energy output and restructure fire‑safety business

The Kraków municipal waste‑to‑energy plant operated by ZTPO processed 218,825 tonnes of municipal waste in 2025, producing 1,248,970 GJ of heat and 67,680 MWh of electricity. The heat supplied about 12 % of the city’s demand, and a new heat‑recovery system raised thermal output by roughly 30 % without increasing waste throughput.

Mcr, the former Mercor group, entered a transition phase after selling its gravity smoke‑extraction and fire‑ventilation business to Kingspan for €420 million. The company reported a net loss of 10.3 million zł for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, while focusing on digital fire‑protection solutions, active extinguishing systems, and a stake in energy‑storage maker Elmech. Dividend payments of 27.2 million zł were made, and 135 million zł allocated to share buy‑backs.
