Polish firms enter final qualification for Choczewo nuclear power plant

Six Polish companies – FAMAK S.A., Zakład Konstrukcji Spawanych Ferrum, Mostostal Kielce, Mostostal Siedlce, Mostostal Kraków and Energomontaż‑Północ Gdynia – have moved into the final qualification stage for the country’s first nuclear power plant at Lubiatowo‑Kopalino in the Choczewo municipality. The process is coordinated by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe and overseen by Westinghouse, and it involves the production of mock‑up module components that will be inspected against the ASME NQA‑1 nuclear quality‑assurance standard required for AP1000 technology.

The firms have already developed quality‑management systems, production procedures, technical drawings and training programmes for welding and non‑destructive testing personnel. Successful completion of the mock‑up tests will allow them to compete for supply‑chain contracts on the Choczewo project, strengthening Poland’s domestic nuclear‑industry capabilities.
