Polish firms target Ukraine reconstruction at Gdańsk's URC 2026 conference

The Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026) took place in Gdańsk on June 25‑26, co‑hosted by Poland and Ukraine. Polish Council for Cooperation with Ukraine chairman Paweł Kowal highlighted the event’s role in moving beyond diplomatic talks to concrete business contracts for Ukraine’s post‑war rebuilding. Around 200 commercial agreements were signed, covering sectors such as energy, transport, logistics, dual‑use technologies and drone production.

Polish participants emphasized financial instruments supporting the effort. The Ukraine Facility, managed by Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, offers loans of €1‑50 million with 90 % risk coverage for projects in the mentioned sectors. Additional programmes from BOŚ, European Flagship Fund and other guarantees were presented. PZU’s acquisition of 100 % of MetLife Ukraine was cited as a key transaction, giving the insurer a market‑leading position and access to about one million customers.

Around 3,600 Polish companies already operate in Ukraine, and the conference provided six signing booths for new contracts and letters of intent. Ukrainian Prime Minister Julija Swyrydenko led the Ukrainian delegation, while local officials including Gdańsk mayor Aleksandra Dulkiewicz and minister Eliza Zeidler took part.
