Polish folk traditions showcased through large-scale craft installations

Various regional cultural initiatives are highlighting traditional Polish folk crafts through large-scale installations. In Kraków, a three-meter wicker Lajkonik, crafted by master wickerworker Marcin Jakubowski, is being presented as a symbol of cooperation between the city and Rudnik nad Sanem, known as the Polish Capital of Wicker. The construction took over a month to complete.

In Bielsko-Biała, a 2.5-meter folk 'spider' decoration has been created through intergenerational workshops organized by the Municipal Cultural Center. The project combined traditional paper decoration techniques with upcycling, using crepe paper, fabric scraps, and old ribbons. The installation, intended to bring good fortune to residents, will be displayed in public locations including the City Hall, Galeria Sfera, and Gemini Park.
