Polish food and dairy sectors implement ESG and carbon reporting

The Polish food and dairy sectors are facing increasing pressure to implement ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) reporting and carbon footprint tracking.

SuperDrob has released its 2024-2025 Sustainability Report, highlighting a 9.7% reduction in water consumption and the operation of a biogas plant in Lublin. The company reported total energy consumption of 86,632.3 MWh for 2025 and noted zero serious workplace accidents during the 2024-2025 period.

In the dairy industry, reporting requirements for carbon footprints are moving down the supply chain to farmers. Driven by EU regulations affecting large retail chains, dairy processors will require more precise documentation of purchases and inputs from producers. To assist, the Institute of Animal Science in Balice is developing a calculator for farmers. The Association of Polish Dairy Processors aims to minimize bureaucratic burdens, noting that the Ministry of Agriculture is considering new eco-schemes to provide support for these carbon reduction efforts.
