Polish food awareness initiatives promote pesticide-free fruit and food safety

Various educational initiatives in Poland are focusing on consumer awareness regarding food quality and safety. The ‘To Twój Pewniak!’ campaign has been conducting sampling events to introduce consumers to Polish fruits with ‘zero pesticide residues,’ including currants, gooseberries, blueberries, apples, and plums.

These events, held at locations such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and various retail outlets, aim to educate the public on making conscious purchasing decisions. Organizers noted that while consumers are interested in pesticide-free categories, there is a significant need for continued education regarding where to find such products.

In a separate educational effort under the ‘Science Has a Voice’ project, experts have been addressing food safety and microbiology. Dr. Anna Jasińska from the University of Łódź warned against the misconception that damaged food, such as a bruised apple, can be salvaged by cutting away the spoiled part. She explained that microorganisms can produce toxins that penetrate deep into the food, making the entire item unsafe even if the visible decay is removed.
