Polish food inspection finds half of kebab producers non‑compliant

The Polish Food Quality Inspection (IJHARS) carried out a laboratory and labeling audit of eight manufacturers of raw beef kebab meat. Samples from four firms – 50 % of those tested – contained undeclared ingredients: three showed poultry meat and one contained water buffalo meat.

Label checks revealed errors in five of the eight batches (62.5 %). Issues included incomplete product names, missing details on processing, failure to list all ingredients (e.g., mustard and hot‑pepper concentrate), and inaccurate country‑of‑origin statements that listed “PL, GB” despite the meat originating solely in Poland. One producer used equipment without the required metrological certification, and two did not register their activity with the regional inspectorate. Sanctions prescribed by law were imposed on the offending firms.
