Robert Lewandowski attends World Cup final and prepares MLS debut with Chicago Fire

Polish striker Robert Lewandowski watched the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina from the VIP area at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and celebrated Spain’s winning goal with former Barcelona teammates. After the match he posted a series of Instagram photos showing himself in New York, at the stadium and with football legends such as Ronaldinho and Ronaldo.

Lewandowski’s move to Major League Soccer was confirmed earlier in July when he signed as a Designated Player for Chicago Fire. His first appearance for the club was postponed after a match against Vancouver Whitecaps was delayed because of poor air quality in the Chicago area. While he trains and lives in a hotel, the family is searching for a permanent home and plans to join him in Chicago later in the summer.

During his introductory press conference Lewandowski quipped about the American term “soccer”, drawing laughter from reporters. He also explained that his invitation to the World Cup final is a lifelong privilege earned as a two‑time FIFA The Best winner. His presence at the final, without his wife Anna, sparked online speculation, which Anna later addressed by citing her own business commitments in Europe.
