Polish Foreign Ministry dismisses Putin's claim Ukraine will lose its western lands

Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted that Ukraine will eventually lose its western territories, referring to lands historically belonging to Poland, Hungary and Romania and claiming that Russia is the sole guarantor of Ukraine's territorial integrity. The statement was made during a meeting with Russian naval personnel in St. Petersburg.

Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a formal response, stating that Poland has never made, is not making, and does not intend to make any territorial claims on Ukraine. The ministry reaffirmed full recognition of Ukraine’s sovereignty and internationally recognised borders, and described Putin’s remarks as false, baseless disinformation designed to create division between Ukraine and its allies and to distract from Russia’s ongoing military aggression.
