Franciscan Brothers Embark on Italy Pilgrimage Tracing St. Francis' Journey

From 8 to 21 July 2026, six brothers from four Polish provinces of the Order of Friars Minor undertook a pilgrimage to Italy as the second phase of their novitiate. Participants included Brother Ludwik Kowalski and were coordinated by Brother Euzebiusz Skorupa. The itinerary began with a stop in Villach, Austria, then proceeded to Rome where the brothers visited the General Curia and met Minister General Fr Massimo Fusarelli and Definitor General Fr Konrad Cholewa. Continuing their route, they followed the historic footprints of St. Francis, visiting Santa Maria degli Angeli, the Carceri hermitage, San Damiano, Assisi, Greccio, Fontecolombo and concluded at a hermitage in Alwernia. The pilgrimage aimed to deepen the brothers’ spiritual formation ahead of their solemn profession.
