Polish health authorities issue urgent food recalls
The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate (GIS) has issued urgent warnings regarding two food products due to potential health risks.
First, a batch of Carrefour Classic pork ham sausages (Serdelki wieprzowe z szynki, 300g) produced by Zakłady Mięsne Stanisławów has been recalled. The product, identified by batch number 010920226 with an expiration date of 01.09.2026, was found to contain Listeria monocytogenes. Carrefour Polska has suspended sales and removed the items from shelves. Consumption of this product may lead to listeriosis, which can cause severe symptoms including meningitis or sepsis.
Second, a batch of Pesto alla Genovese green basil sauce (180g) produced for MW Food Sp. z o.o. is being withdrawn. Testing revealed the presence of the ntnh gene, indicating the possible presence of botulinum toxin in batch L 605192FE (expiry 08.2027). The manufacturer has blocked warehouse stock and is conducting further laboratory testing. Consuming food contaminated with botulinum toxin can lead to botulism, a serious systemic illness.
