Polish health regulator bans multiple medicines and issues safety alerts

The Polish Chief Pharmaceutical Inspector (Główny Inspektor Farmaceutyczny) has prohibited the introduction of the cholesterol‑lowering drug Atorvastatin Medical Valley across all series, citing quality defects in tablet coating that could affect stability and efficacy. The same authority also withdrew several batches of the antihypertensive medicines Concor and Concor Cor 5 mg after laboratory tests revealed levels of the nitrosamine contaminant N‑Nitroso‑Bisoprolol exceeding permitted limits.

In a separate public health warning, the national sanitary inspection (Sanepid) identified the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a specific batch of raw sausage (product number 1R808070707, expiry 27 July 2026). The bacterium can cause severe listeriosis, especially in pregnant women, the elderly and immunocompromised individuals.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that the anti‑export list of medicines, intended to prevent shortages, now contains 288 products, representing about 1.6 % of all authorized medicines in Poland. The list is updated bi‑monthly and aims to curb the outflow of drugs to neighboring markets.
