Polish heritage railways host retro excursions and seasonal transitions

Several historical and seasonal railway events are taking place in Poland. The Nadmorska Kolej Wąskotorowa (Coastal Narrow-Gauge Railway) is concluding its main transport season on September 27, 2026. Starting in October, the service will transition to an autumn-winter schedule with limited runs on specific days of the month. The Trzęsacz-Pogorzelica route will offer four full daily trips, with adjusted departure and arrival times due to earlier sunset. Special promotions for seniors and school groups will continue on Fridays through the end of 2026, and charter services using retro sets with heated wagons will be available for organized groups.

In the Małopolska region, special retro train journeys will depart from Nowy Sącz on September 26 and 27. These trips feature the Ty2-911 steam locomotive, built in 1943, and are part of the ‘Małopolskie Szlaki Turystyki Kolejowej’ project to promote regional railway heritage. On Saturday, the train will travel through the Poprad Valley to Muszyna, with additional runs to Krynicy-Zdrój. On Sunday, the route will follow the former Galician Transversal Railway toward Biecza and Gorlice, marking celebrations including the 150th anniversary of the Tarnów–Leluchów railway.
