Polish historic castles undergo major renovations

Several historic castles in Poland are undergoing significant renovation projects.

The Royal Castle in Warsaw has begun an extensive roof renovation project costing approximately 5.9 million PLN. The work, which started in July, involves five wings and three towers, including the Clock Tower, Władysławowska Tower, and the Gothic Tower. The project covers ceramic roofing, wooden rafters, chimneys, and gutter systems. Funded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the work is expected to be completed by December 15, 2027, though the museum remains open to visitors.

In Kwidzyn, the Kwidzyn Castle will close to the public for over three years to undergo a massive 64 million PLN renovation and modernization project. Managed by the Malbork Castle Museum, the investment includes 41.5 million PLN from the FEnIKS European funds. The scope of work includes conservation, infrastructure modernization, accessibility improvements for people with disabilities, and the creation of five new permanent exhibitions. A farewell event for visitors is scheduled for August 30.
