Polish Honorary Blood Donors Receive State Awards in Kielce

On 13 June 2026, a ceremony at the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Therapy in Kielce honoured 55 volunteers with state awards for their lifetime contributions to blood donation. Among the awardees was Tomasz Gawłowski, who began donating as a school‑aged adult and continued while serving in the army. Director Krzysztof Sławiński highlighted the growing need for blood as Poland’s population ages, noting that seniors are the largest recipients of transfusions. Senior Minister for Senior Policy Marzena Okła‑Drewnowicz stressed that the demand for blood never ends and urged continued community support. The honoured donors collectively contributed 20 litres of blood, described as “the most valuable medicine”.
