Polish hospitals advance robotic surgery capabilities
Medical facilities in Poland are expanding their use of the Da Vinci robotic surgical system to perform complex procedures.
The Provincial Specialist Hospital in Biała Podlaska reached a milestone by completing its 300th robotic operation. The hospital utilizes this technology in urology, general surgery, and gynecology to provide minimally invasive treatments that aim to reduce pain, lower complication risks, and shorten hospital stays.
In Słupsk, the Provincial Specialist Hospital performed the region's first robotic cystectomy, a radical bladder removal procedure. Dr. Marcin Klim, head of the Urology Department, noted that this represents a high level of development for robotic urology in the facility, which previously used the system for prostate and kidney surgeries. The robotic approach is intended to minimize blood loss and accelerate patient recovery compared to traditional open surgery.
