Polish hospitals embroiled in IVF mix‑up and parking fee controversy

Warsaw’s Szpital Południowy has been linked to a series of irregularities, including alleged misappropriation of public funds and a recent in‑vitro fertilisation error in which a patient received an embryo unrelated to her or her partner. The hospital has not replied to inquiries from the media, the city health office or its own communications department.

In Poznań, a patient of the University Clinical Hospital was billed 1,350 zł for parking during a three‑day stay – an amount that represented almost half of his monthly salary. After lodging a complaint, hospital officials said the charge would be cancelled. The parking service, run by an external firm, charges 10 zł per 30‑minute interval after an initial 15‑minute free period, with a maximum stay of 72 hours.
