Polish hospitals get major upgrades to emergency and primary care

The Hospital of the Mother of Perpetual Help in Wołomin opened a new Emergency Department (SOR) covering almost 2,000 m² and costing about 93 million zł. The facility is four times larger than the previous unit, includes an on‑site operating theatre for immediate therapy, modern observation stations, triage rooms and a covered ambulance entrance, aiming to shorten response times for the growing number of patients – 31,368 visited the department in 2025.

In Tychy, Megrez Hospital received a grant of 298,200 zł under the "Support for Primary Health Care" programme. The funding, sourced from the European Regional Development Fund, will be used to purchase a ultrasound machine, EKG and blood‑pressure holters, a spirometer, and to equip primary‑care offices, a vaccination point, registration areas and waiting rooms. The project also supports telemedicine and digitalisation of services.

Both investments are part of Poland’s broader effort to modernise hospital infrastructure and improve accessibility and quality of health care at the regional level.
