Polish Hospitals Suspend Key Departments Amid Staffing Issues

The obstetrics‑gynecology and newborn unit at the County Hospital named after Dr. Tytus Chałubiński in Zakopane will be closed from 1 August until the end of the month. The hospital cites planned refurbishment and organisational work, but the suspension follows the departure of the former head, Dr. Hubert Wolski, who moved to a neighboring specialist hospital. Patients requiring hospitalization or delivery will have to seek care at other regional facilities.

The Clinical Hospital of the Bydgoszcz University of Technology has announced a temporary suspension of its Internal Medicine department, also effective 1 August. The closure is due to a shortage of medical staff after negotiations with the existing team failed over financial conditions. The hospital will transfer affected patients to its Cardiology and Internal Medicine unit. Both suspensions are described as temporary pending the resolution of staffing or organisational matters.
