Polish households plan summer trips despite tighter budgets
A June 2026 survey commissioned by Allianz Partners shows that 76% of Poles intend to take a vacation this year, but 58% will stay within Poland. Domestic tourism therefore dominates, with only about 7% each favouring Greece, Italy or Spain, and even lower interest in Croatia and Turkey.
More than half of travelers (52%) plan to spend no more than 2,500 zł per person, while only 16% anticipate expenditures above 5,000 zł. Financial constraints are the main barrier: 56% of non‑travelers cite lack of money and another 31% cite existing obligations. Concerns about medical costs or baggage loss affect just 4% of respondents.
The study also reveals demographic patterns: over 80% of respondents aged 25‑34 plan a holiday, compared with about 70% of those aged 55‑64. Urban dwellers are more likely to travel, with 87% of residents in cities over 500,000 planning a trip versus 71% in rural areas. Insurance uptake remains modest, with 51% buying travel cover and 76% of non‑buyers stating they “do not see a need,” according to Paweł Schön of Allianz Partners Poland.
