Warsaw offers free handyman service for residents aged 75 and older

The Warsaw municipal government has expanded its "golden hand" programme, providing free in‑home repairs for senior residents aged 75 years or older. Eligible individuals – whether living alone or as a couple, provided both are 75 + – can request assistance for minor household faults such as leaking taps, faulty sockets, broken light fixtures, clogged drains, door handles, or installing a chandelier. The service covers labour up to a value of 300 zł and a maximum visit duration of three hours; material costs must be supplied by the resident. Requests are scheduled within ten working days, and the specialist visits at a pre‑arranged time slot. The initiative targets seniors with limited income or without family support, though no income test is required.

The programme does not include larger renovation tasks such as painting, plastering, floor replacement, furniture removal, or full plumbing and electrical overhauls. It is intended solely for single, discrete repairs rather than comprehensive home upgrades.
