Polish inspections find labeling errors in diet catering and protected‑name foods

The regional food‑quality inspectorate in Olsztyn examined five companies that provide diet‑catering services. Inspectors reviewed 11 batches and found labeling deficiencies in four firms, including missing allergen warnings on eight dishes, incorrect ingredient names, omission of sweetener information and lack of details about special processing. Sylwia Ciągło‑Androsiuk emphasized that “information about food – the product name and ingredient list – must be available to the consumer at the moment they make their choice.”

A separate audit by IJHARS checked 77 product batches bearing protected‑name symbols (ChNP, ChOG, GTS) across Poland. Faulty labeling was detected in 15 batches (19.5%), such as absent Polish labels, missing producer names and erroneous nutrition declarations. Laboratory tests revealed physico‑chemical discrepancies in five batches (16.1%), including mismatches in protein, fat, salt or meat content compared with the declared values.
