Polish investment funds see sharp slowdown in September inflows

In September 2026, the Polish investment fund market experienced a significant slowdown in sales. The net balance of inflows and outflows reached a symbolic positive of 0.25 billion PLN, a sharp decline from the 3.53 billion PLN recorded in August. This stagnation was largely driven by a net outflow of 0.4 billion PLN from retail funds, particularly debt funds, which were impacted by rising bond yields.

Despite the slowdown in retail sectors, Employee Capital Plans (PPK) provided stability to the market. PPK funds secured a net inflow of 640 million PLN. According to the Polish Development Fund (PFR), the total value of PPK assets reached 58.7 billion PLN by the end of September, with participation hitting a record high of 63.14%. Participation is highest in large enterprises with over 1,000 employees, reaching nearly 92%.

The Ministry of Finance has suggested potential improvements to the PPK program to further boost participation, including shortening the automatic enrollment cycle from four years to three and expanding eligibility to include individuals aged 55-70.
