OpenAI expands AI hardware and deals as Poland ramps up AI adoption

OpenAI unveiled its first in‑house inference processor, named Jalapeño, developed with Broadcom to improve performance‑per‑watt and lessen reliance on Nvidia GPUs. The chip is slated for deployment in OpenAI data centres later this year. At the same time, OpenAI signed a multi‑year licensing agreement with Getty Images, allowing ChatGPT to surface Getty‑licensed photographs in search results, a move that signals a shift toward paid, trusted visual content in generative AI products.

In Europe, OpenAI announced a partnership with Polish e‑commerce platform Allegro, integrating an AI‑driven shopping assistant into the ChatGPT app. The collaboration lets Polish users browse Allegro’s catalogue, receive product recommendations and place orders directly through conversational prompts. Meanwhile, a series of Polish‑focused AI events and reports show rapid growth in AI uptake among businesses. A survey by EY found that 71 % of mid‑size and large Polish energy firms now have formal AI strategies, though data quality and cyber‑security remain major hurdles. A separate study revealed that 94 % of graduates from the “Umiejętności Jutra: AI” programme intend to use AI at work, while a CBOS poll highlighted that 64 % of Poles have not used generative AI in the past three months, citing lack of need, low awareness and privacy concerns.

Analysts also warned of “AI‑washing,” where firms advertise extensive AI capabilities without delivering measurable value, and highlighted the difficulty many companies face in tracking AI‑related spending. In the broader tech talent market, Google announced the departure of several senior AI researchers to rivals such as Anthropic and OpenAI, underscoring intense competition for expertise. Finally, a Savills analysis concluded that AI is not expected to diminish demand for office space; instead, firms investing in AI tend to increase hiring, keeping office‑market fundamentals tied primarily to overall economic health.
