Polish IPN marks 83rd anniversary of Volhynian massacre with new exhibition

On December 19, 2025, the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN) opened the exhibition “Wołyń 1943. Ofiary, relacje, miejsca pamięci” in Moszczenica to mark the 83rd anniversary of the Volhynian massacre. Deputy IPN president Dr Karol Polejowski inaugurated the display, read a letter from President Karol Nawrocki, and announced the translation of the three‑volume “Documents of the Volhynian massacre” into Ukrainian, with the first two volumes delivered to President Volodymyr Zelensky.

A separate commemorative event was held at the Centralny Przystanek Historia in Warsaw, where survivors’ testimonies were presented and a discussion of the third volume of the document series took place. IPN officials emphasized the institute’s ongoing work to locate, exhume, and properly bury victims, and called for unequivocal condemnation of the nationalist violence that killed hundreds of thousands of Poles.

Both events highlighted continued Polish‑Ukrainian dialogue over historical memory and the institute’s commitment to preserving evidence and educating the public about the 1943 atrocities.
