Polish Krab howitzers: 45 units lost in Ukraine conflict

According to the latest data from the Oryx database, which documents visually confirmed equipment losses in the war in Ukraine, Russian forces have eliminated 45 Polish-made Krab self-propelled howitzers from combat. The statistics include both damaged and destroyed units that have been verified through photographs or video footage, suggesting the actual number of losses may be higher.

Produced by Huta Stalowa Wola, the Krab howitzers utilize the NATO-standard 155 mm caliber. They are noted for their high rate of fire, capable of delivering up to six shots per minute during intensive shelling, and a standard range of approximately 30 km depending on the ammunition used.

Ukrainian military personnel have frequently praised the systems for their combat capabilities and crew ergonomics, noting their superiority over older Soviet-era artillery. These units have been deployed in high-intensity combat zones, including Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and the Kursk region. While the rate of loss has slowed in recent months compared to earlier stages of the conflict, the Krab remains one of the most significant pieces of artillery provided by Poland to Ukraine.
